Congratulations Europe

It is not a perfect union, but, nonetheless, it is a successful one. After many wars, countries that were almost historical enemies taught a lesson to the world a created this space that we now call European Union. Some generations don't know how it was before, and how we progress with this Union.

Yesterday in Lisbon we took another step forward, and everything considered it is a good progress. Only the future will tell what it is going to happen next but I am looking forward to reach what this treaty points to - a True Union!

This is the snuffing out of a nation and the inevitable road to war and the new serfdom. This is no progress whatsoever but a return to the dark ages.

All the signs are therre but people refuse to look at them.

So much blood had been shed to draw frontiers in Europe. Today, European Union demolishes all the existing borders.

Isn't it time to demolish the ones we have in our minds?

Hi Bret,

First of all thanks for commenting.

I have to disagree with you. First of all, for me, nation is not mere frontiers. This treaty does not "snuff" a nation. Secondly, the path to war can only be in your mind. It is wishful thinking, rather than reality.

What is being constructed is rather a path to a new space, a stronger a more democratic space, and, if we want, a strong example to the world.

Returning to the dark ages is to have a cristalyzed notion of nation, to close down frontiers of mind, and frankly to disrespect others just like Gordon Brown did.

Recent history shown us that supra national organizations are vital to peace, and strong feelings of nationalism are a key point to war.
